A sister program of Solarium Marketing
02 / The Earth Co-op

A network of earth-based brands, pooling what none of us could fund alone.

Athletes. Gear. Trips. Relationships. Free for Solarium retainer clients · $195/month for any other earth-based brand that wants in. Not profit sharing; resource and network sharing. Here's how every piece of it actually works.

◉ Why it's a sister program

Solarium is the shop. The Earth Co-op is the network.

Solarium Marketing is an agency. You hire us for web, paid media, SEO, content, analytics, and brand work on a retainer or project basis. The Earth Co-op is something different: a membership network of earth-based brands that shares athletes, gear, trips, and relationships so every member gets reach that none of them could fund alone.

Big outdoor brands spend millions every year on sponsored athletes, gear testing programs, and in-person retreats that make their marketing feel like a community. Smaller brands cannot afford that in isolation. A co-op is the version that works at their scale. You contribute what you can (gear to the loaner kit, a trip slot, a content shoot) and you draw from a pool that's an order of magnitude larger than anything you'd build alone.

Two paths in. If you're a Solarium client, co-op membership is already yours, free. If you're not, and you don't want or need agency services, you can still join as a public member for $195/month ($1,950/year, save ~17%). No membership cap. No waitlist. Just a bigger pool to draw from every season.

◉ Four member benefits

What membership actually includes.

01 · Member trips

Real trips with the people you share clients with.

The co-op books trips with its guide, outfitter, and host members. Rafting with our rafting companies, climbing with our guide services, staying at our lodge members, touring our nursery and farm members. Priority access, co-op rates, and a standing invitation to every trip we run.

For non-guide members (gear brands, nurseries, land trusts, athletes), this is the fastest way to meet the guides, athletes, and hosts you'll eventually sponsor, collaborate with, or sell into. For the guides and hosts, it's guaranteed shoulder-season volume from a network of people who already know and talk about your work.

How it works

  • Quarterly trip calendar · published to all members 90 days ahead
  • Priority booking window · members book first, public fills remaining
  • Co-op rates · member pricing, typically 15–30% off retail
  • Cross-pollination · trip cohorts mix gear brands + guides + athletes
  • Content capture optional · photo/video team can come along
02 · Athlete & ambassador pool

A shared roster of sponsored athletes, guides, and creators.

The athletes, guides, and creators we sponsor across the co-op get cross-promoted for every member brand. Your gear on their feet. Their audience meeting your story. The content compounds across channels instead of disappearing after one post, because every asset serves three members, not one.

This is the single hardest thing for a small brand to afford on its own. Most of our gear-brand members couldn't fund a sponsored climber or racer in isolation. As a pool, we can.

What the pool looks like

  • 15–30 sponsored athletes at any time · climbing, cycling, running, snow, water, field sports
  • Cross-discipline guides & patrollers · AMGA, IFMGA, ski patrol, wilderness medicine
  • Working filmmakers & photographers · commissioned for member projects
  • Writers & editors · for member editorial placements
  • Quarterly content output plan · you know what's being shot and where
03 · Gear loaner & pro deals

A real kit. Field tested. Shared across members.

Gear-brand members contribute product to the co-op loaner kit. Guide and outfitter members borrow what they need for the season. Every piece gets field-tested by people who actually use it, and the footage, feedback, and product shots feed back into everyone's content plan.

For gear brands, this is free, honest, in-the-field product testing with people who can actually break it, instead of paid creators who never will. For guides, outfitters, and athletes, it's access to current kit without the capital hit. The footage and stills that come out of this are some of the best assets our content team produces all year.

How the kit runs

  • Seasonal rotations · spring, summer, fall, winter kit lists
  • Request-based loans · members submit requests, we match to kit
  • Pro-deal access · discounted pricing for members to buy outright
  • Field-test reports · every returned piece gets written up
  • Shared content · photos & footage available to all members
04 · Annual field gathering

One multi-day meet-up. Every member. One shared trip.

Once a year, members gather in person for a three-day field trip. Shared shoots. Cross-referrals. Introductions over a bonfire. The kind of relationship building that makes the co-op more than a logo in a list, and makes next year's content calendar a lot easier to fill.

Location rotates yearly. Past and planned hosts include a climbing school in the Tetons, a rafting outfitter in central Oregon, and a native-plant nursery in North Carolina. The format is intentionally light: no conference, no keynote, no sales pitch. Just members, the place, and three days of time together.

What's on the table

  • Three days, one location · usually late shoulder-season
  • Shared content shoot · every member walks with new assets
  • Workshop track (optional) · algorithm deep-dive, brand refresh, ads hands-on
  • Member intros · structured matchmaking for cross-referrals
  • Included with retainer · lodging, meals, transport from nearest airport

◉ Questions

Things people ask before joining.

What is The Earth Co-op, exactly? Is it a separate company?
The Earth Co-op is a sister program of Solarium Marketing, a membership network of earth-based brands that pool athletes, gear, trips, and relationships. It's operated by Solarium, not a separate legal entity. Think of Solarium as the marketing agency, and The Earth Co-op as the membership club Solarium hosts. Two brands, one team, one shared mission.
What's the difference between Solarium Marketing and The Earth Co-op?
Solarium Marketing is an agency. You hire us for services (web, paid media, SEO, content, analytics) on a project or retainer basis. The Earth Co-op is a membership network. You join to get access to the shared athlete pool, gear loaner kit, member trips, and annual field gathering. Every Solarium retainer client gets free Earth Co-op membership automatically. Public brands can join the co-op as standalone members without hiring Solarium.
How do I join The Earth Co-op?
Two paths. (1) Solarium retainer clients · any Advisory, Retainer, or Full-Service client gets free Earth Co-op membership included, no separate signup. (2) Public members · any earth-based brand can apply at our public membership rate ($195/month or $1,950/year). Public members get every co-op benefit; the only thing they don't get is the Solarium agency services (those are sold separately).
What kind of brand is a good fit?
Any brand whose work begins outside. Outfitters, guides, gear makers, nurseries, farms, land trusts, conservation nonprofits, adventure tour operators, environmental consultancies, athletes, sustainability firms, park concessions. If the earth is somewhere in your business model, we're built for you.
How big do I have to be?
We've worked with solo guides running $150k/year of bookings and with brands doing $20M+. The only real floor is on paid media retainers (minimum $5k/mo spend), because below that the math doesn't work for the client. Everything else scales, including Earth Co-op membership, which is priced to be accessible to one-person brands.
What does a public Earth Co-op membership actually include?
Every co-op benefit: priority booking on member trips at co-op rates, access to the shared sponsored-athlete pool for your content and campaigns, gear loaner program access, an invite to the annual field gathering (lodging and transport included), warm member-to-member introductions, shared footage and stills from co-op shoots, and a quarterly members-only field report. The only things you don't get are Solarium's marketing services, which are sold separately on a project or retainer basis.
Are the athletes exclusive to us?
Sponsored athletes in the co-op pool are contracted across the co-op, not to any single member brand. If you need an exclusive ambassador, we can structure that outside the pool, but most members find the pool model gets them more output, not less.
What if my brand is very small or just starting?
Two good options. (1) Solarium's Advisory tier ($750/mo) gets you senior marketing access plus free Earth Co-op membership. (2) If you don't need marketing services yet, join the co-op directly as a public member ($195/mo) for the network and athlete/gear access alone. A lot of brands start with public membership and graduate into a Solarium retainer when they're ready.
Is this profit sharing? What exactly is being "shared"?
No. The co-op doesn't share revenue, equity, or profit. What gets shared is resources and network. Resources: the gear kit, the sponsored athlete roster, the trip slots, the annual gathering. Network: warm intros between members, cross-promotion opportunities, shared shoot footage, referrals. You keep every dollar your own business earns. You just also get access to a pool of people, gear, and trips you couldn't fund alone.
Is membership capped? Is there a waitlist?
No cap, no waitlist. Resource and network benefits scale with the co-op. More members means a bigger athlete pool, deeper gear kit, more trip options, and a stronger network of brands to refer to each other. We do run a brief fit conversation before onboarding any member (public or client) to make sure the co-op is genuinely useful to your business, but it's not a gate. Just a handshake.
Can I see who the current members are?
Once you're in an initial conversation, yes. We don't publish the member roster publicly, partly out of respect for our members' time, and partly because the pool shifts season-to-season. Apply or email us and we'll share the current list under NDA.
